Client will take at least 6 months before being released from hospital and then an additional 12 months physio - rehabilitation.
Female Age 29 - Thyroid Cancer
Insured with Aviva and was paid out $110,015 Trauma Cover and 6 x monthly benefit with Income Protection $3,885 x 6.
The claimant only took 4 weeks off work but is working 32 hours a week while she gets her strength back.
Male Age 51 - Pancreatic Cancer
Insured with Aviva and was paid out $280,000 Trauma Cover and 6 x monthly benefit with Income Protection.
The claimant did not return to work and after 6 months his income protection commenced paying monthly payments.
After 12 months, the Life Cover was bought back (under Life Cover Buyback). The client passed away 18 months after the original diagnosis and was then paid out his Life Cover totalling $669,860 plus $49,082.79 Income Protection (being 6 x monthly benefit as he passed away whilst on claim).
Client used his pay out to obtain experimental medical treatment. Client had laser surgery performed, was on an experimental drug plus he took his family on several overseas holidays to enjoy their remaining time together.
Male Age 61 - Riddled with Cancer
Insured with CommInsure for Income Protection only (old policy). A review had been performed earlier in the year and his son talked him out of upgrading and including Life Cover.
Client was on claim for about 6 months and received a monthly benefit of $1,779 each month. As this was an old policy, no additional benefit was payable on Death.
Male Age 62 - Skin Cancer
Insured with CommInsure. Client was diagnosed with a rare skin cancer on his head.
After having the surgery and obtaining the results, it did not meet the definition for a Trauma pay out, however with CommInsure taking into account the severity of the operation and thinking outside the square, they paid the full Trauma pay out of $34,057. This was only a small pay out but meant the world to the client.
Male Age 55 - Motor Bike Accident
Insured with Aviva and was involved in a motor bike accident. Client broke right radial and was paid out 6 weeks under Scheduled Injury Benefit.
Client was off work for some time and was paid his monthly Income Protection benefit of
$6,735 for approximately another 3-4 months.
Male Age 58 - Heart Attack
Insured with Tower. Client had a heart attack and was paid out $112,312.78 Trauma Benefit & then from his Income Protection he qualified for Nursing Care Benefit, Medical Catastrophe Benefit plus his monthly benefit (total IP pay out $55,324.97).
Client then returned to work gradually as he was paid a partial benefit for 2 months of $7,343 each month.
Male Age 48 - Prostate Cancer
Insured with ING and was paid out $55,125 Trauma Cover.
Client had radical surgery and used the pay out to pay back loans that he took out to travel to other countries to try and help his chances of the cancer not returning.
Male Age 38 - Oesophagus Cancer
Insured under several Superannuation Funds. We claimed the Terminal Illness Benefit on all the Superannuation Funds totalling approximately $500,000.
This enabled the client time with his family & the peace of mind to know that the family
would be taken care of.
Female Age 43 - Vertebra Cancer
Insured with ING Integra. Client was diagnosed with Vertebra cancer and had the operation. Original claim was TPD in which client made a lump sum withdrawal of $20,000 only (policy had Death Cover included in Super).
Client 6 months later was diagnosed as being Terminally Ill. Terminal Illness Benefit was then claimed and a pay out of $310,000 was obtained.
